It’s little wonder that Melbourne consistently ranks on the top ten list of the world’s most livable cities- after all it hosts unusual architecture, culture, shopping, restaurants, cafes, nightlife, tons of little streets that each have a unique character and publicly sanctioned street art to name just a few of the attractions.
Though not by any means an exhaustive list, some of the things you can see and do in Melbourne include:
Take a tram ride: A free tram operates on a circular loop around the CBD. Hop on and off as often as you like.

Shopping: It’s not a coincidence that Melbourne is known as the shopping capital of Australia. There are a variety of goodies to be found at an incredible price.
Little Streets: Melbourne is famous for its little streets which each seem to have their own theme. Treasures can be found just by wandering around the city and preparing only for the unexpected.
St Kilda: Visit Luna Park, go to the beach and enjoy the markets before having lunch. What a great day out.
Federation Square: Home of several art galleries including the National Gallery of Victoria this is definitely worth a visit.
Take the neighbours tour: Pay a visit to Ramsey St. You may even meet some of the famous residents!

The MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground): Sit amongst the locals and watch them do what they do best; cheering on their team.
The Melbourne Cup: On the first Tuesday in November you can get dressed to the nines, don your fanciest hat and hang out with Melbourne’s elite (or head down to the local bar) to watch the race that the entire nation stops for.
Though it’s colder than Sydney in winter, Melbourne is a fresh, energetic city and you won’t regret spending time here.
